A Dream of Tomorrow

The dreams of tomorrow

Keep me awake-in

The darkest of dark

Thinking about brightest bright

I can only hope

For tomorrow I be

The best of me-will

Learn how to cope

I can only hope

For tomorrow I be

The best of me-will

Learn how to cope

To learn matters plentiful

Unlearn matters that matter-no more

Hopes of yesterdreams achieved

Thinking about darkest dark

In the brightest bright

And tomorrow comes again

And with it comes new dreams

The heat prevails and I

Drown in its heart’s dreams.

I attempt to swim

Gathered all in me

One jump at a time

Two steps behind

And then I realize

To know my way

Is to not know-and

To hear it say

To know is a sin

Way in and way out

A place before — or

A place beyond.

It’s the same site

The locus of life

All is seen but never known

Is the only way out

The dreams of tomorrow-keep

Me awake no more

For I gather my might-to

Drift into the unknown.
